A family run dental practice that has cared for Cooma and the Snowy Monaro Region from the same Dawson Street rooms since the 1950s. Different faces over the years, the same promise every time.

Dawson Street Dental Surgery has been part of Cooma life for more than seventy years. Locals who came in as children now bring their own children and grandchildren through the same front door.
The practice began when Ian Noble established the original dental surgery in what is now the audiology building next door. He sold it to Dr Robert Ellis during the 1950s - at a time when the road between Canberra and Cooma was still unsealed and the Snowy Hydro Scheme was in full swing.
“I joined in 1977, just as the Snowy Scheme was finishing. Cooma still had Greek and German delis and it was very cosmopolitan.”
- Dr Tony Slater, owner 1983-2011Dr Tony Slater bought the building in 1983 and ran the practice for 35 years, running branch clinics in Jindabyne and Bombala. In 2023, Dr Tendai and Dr Annie took over ownership, keeping what has always made this practice special while bringing calm, modern dentistry to the region.
